Did you know that you’re not supposed to peel hot glue off your finger tips? Do you know how to read a Safety Data Sheet? Come join one cosplayer as they help your crafting process become safer so you can continue crafting for a long time!

Your costume coordination is on point, but could you max it out a little more? Consider temporary tattoos! No longer the silly little styles just for kids, temporary tattoos now come in a vast variety of large, complex, and sophisticated designs, from full chest pieces to whole sleeves. Best of all, it's easier than ever to customize your own. We'll go over some of the best places to get premade ones, but also online custom printers, and special paper you can use to make your own with a Cricut or Silhouette printer, or event a regular laser or inkjet printer. Artists can consider these options as alternates to stickers for their own work.

Intro to 3D Modeling

An introduction to basic concepts in 3d modeling, using TinkerCAD online. Participants will go through a guided workflow using the software to create and export a simple model ready for printing. Key concepts include importing/exporting .stl files, manipulating the 3d space, essential transformations (position, rotation, scale), and boolean operations to join sculpt objects.

Boro Mending Techniques

Make your clothes last longer and fix pesky holes by learning traditional Japanese Boro embroidery. In this workshop, we’ll learn a little bit about the history of mending and repairing clothes in Japan, and will complete a basic patch using scraps of traditional Japanese fabric. Students will then learn basic hand sewing techniques and how to apply them to attach their patch to create a beautiful & functional repair that can be applied to damaged clothes of any kind. Each student will leave with a sample of repaired fabric that they can then take home and apply to worn clothing using the techniques learned in class.

Covering Foam Shapes

Workshop 1

Ready to tackle sturdy buns, dramatic drill curls, or gravity-defying spikes? In this workshop, Malindachan teaches you how to cover foam and other support structures with wig hair to create clean, professional-looking shapes that actually hold up. Students will learn core techniques for attaching, smoothing, and finishing wig fibers over forms, then apply those skills to create and take home a Sailor Moon–style odango bun. This class is ideal for cosplayers looking to move beyond basic styling and add durable, sculptural elements to their wig builds.

Attendees in this course will learn about the history and practice of shibori, a traditional Japanese tie dye technique. Fandom Culture is starting to become mainstream. We see fandom culture not only on platforms like tik tok, youtube and instagram but also in live performance. Fandom Cabarets, drag and burlesque and belly dance shows are starting to pop up all over the country. This will be discussion about how to combine your love of performance and Coplay. We will talk about how to tailor cosplays and/or convert performance costumes to create cosplays to use for performance, how to avoid pitfalls and talk about safety when performing in cosplay, and we will discuss how to get started and get involved in fandom performance.
